Accord Financial

Asset-based lending and equipment finance

Evidence of the funding role

Accord describes its commercial financing services and funded facilities, including asset-based and equipment finance. This entry covers its Canadian offering.

Accord’s public Canadian site separates asset-based lending, equipment finance and factoring. Those are different structures; this profile focuses on its lending products.

Compare the borrowing-base calculation, reporting duties and any existing bank security—not just the credit limit.

Our comparison analysis

Asset availability through a seasonal cycle

Build the comparison around the lowest borrowing availability during your season, not the largest limit in the approval. Receivables can shrink after collections while a stock purchase creates a new cash need. Ask for a sample borrowing-base certificate showing eligible assets, reserves and outstanding drawings. When refinancing a bank facility, include payout costs and the steps needed to change security priority. The proposal should explain whether the equipment component amortizes separately from the revolving operating component.

Worked planning example

Illustrative: eligible receivables of CAD 200,000 at an assumed 75% advance create CAD 150,000 gross availability. Subtracting a CAD 20,000 reserve and CAD 90,000 already drawn leaves CAD 40,000. These are planning assumptions, not Accord terms.

Hypothetical assumptions, not a provider quote or an underwriting rule.

Questions to put in writing

  • Which customers or assets are excluded from the borrowing base?
  • How frequently can reserves change?
  • Can equipment be sold or replaced without paying out the entire facility?

Request a dated proposal identifying the contracting lender, lessor or factor, every compulsory charge, the payment schedule and the conditions that remain before funding.
