Evidence of the funding role
National Australia Bank publishes its own business lending products, including loans, overdrafts and vehicle or equipment finance.
NAB’s Australian business-finance menu includes loans, overdrafts, equipment finance and invoice finance. These are separate products with different structures.

Our comparison analysis
Keep the asset purchase and operating limit separate
For a vehicle or machine purchase, compare the financed asset price and ownership outcome with the working-capital requirement around it. A business may need both an asset facility and cash for wages or materials, but pledging several assets can make later refinancing more complex. Ask which assets secure each agreement and whether facilities have cross-default or cross-security provisions. Build the repayment calendar around the business’s actual collection pattern, especially where income is seasonal.
Worked planning example
Illustrative: an AUD 85,000 vehicle needs AUD 12,000 of initial operating cash. Compare how an asset proposal and an operating facility fund the total AUD 97,000 need. A lower vehicle payment does not resolve an unfunded operating gap.
Hypothetical assumptions, not a provider quote or an underwriting rule.
Questions to put in writing
- Is security limited to the financed asset?
- What happens if another facility with the bank defaults?
- What balloon, review or end-of-term obligations remain?
Request a dated proposal identifying the contracting lender, lessor or factor, every compulsory charge, the payment schedule and the conditions that remain before funding.
