RBC Royal Bank

Business loans and lines of credit

Evidence of the funding role

RBC Royal Bank publishes its own Canadian business loans and credit lines, with product information and a bank application or enquiry route.

RBC’s Canadian business-loan page provides separate loan and line-of-credit routes. This entry is restricted to the bank’s own products.

Our comparison analysis

Operating credit versus a defined capital project

Prepare one schedule for long-term spending and another for the seasonal operating cycle. Then ask the bank to explain which facility funds each item and why. Compare the cash available after any fees or refinanced balance. Where borrowing and revenue are in different currencies, stress-test the exchange rate rather than assuming a Canadian lender means a Canadian-dollar obligation. Keep any program-backed proposal distinct from a conventional bank offer and check current eligibility with the bank.

Worked planning example

Illustrative: CAD 60,000 for a permanent renovation and CAD 20,000 for inventory needed for eight weeks should be evaluated on different repayment horizons. Combining them may simplify paperwork but can conceal when the inventory borrowing should clear.

Hypothetical assumptions, not a provider quote or an underwriting rule.

Questions to put in writing

  • Which costs and currency does each facility cover?
  • What reporting and renewal conditions apply to operating credit?
  • Can one facility be repaid without changing the other?

Request a dated proposal identifying the contracting lender, lessor or factor, every compulsory charge, the payment schedule and the conditions that remain before funding.
