The key decision
A business without trading receipts cannot demonstrate repayment from historical operating cash. Startup borrowing therefore needs a credible plan, an appropriate funding route and a realistic assessment of who carries the risk.
What to consider before choosing
Separate pre-launch costs from ongoing losses. Prepare a staged budget, owner contribution and conservative sales assumptions. A product designed around established business deposits may not fit a pre-revenue company. Consider whether launching in phases reduces the need. Public-program information must be checked in the correct country; a program’s existence is not eligibility.
Your preparation checklist
- Build a minimum viable launch budget.
- Identify the repayment source before sales stabilize.
- Check country-specific programs and legal responsibility.
Prepare an accurate file, then choose the route
A useful application connects the funding purpose with current business records and a credible source of repayment. Keep entity details, ownership, reported revenue and bank information consistent. Explain material changes rather than trying to make the business appear more established or profitable than the records support.
Ask what information is needed at the initial review and what can wait until a secure document route is confirmed. Do not send passwords, identity numbers or full bank records in a general enquiry. An approval is only useful if the final structure is affordable and suitable for the business.

Put the decision into numbers
Illustration: committing to a large fixed payment before a location opens creates exposure to licensing, fit-out and sales delays. A smaller staged launch may reduce that gap.
This is an illustration, not a customer case, provider quote, approval or market benchmark. Unless a currency is stated, use one consistent currency throughout your own calculation.
What to watch
A question worth asking
